Who doesn’t love a good açaí bowl? The sweet taste, healthy benefits, and aesthetic look make this superfood trendy and delicious to everyone! Here’s how you can make your own bowl using only 3 steps:
Ingredients:
Açaí Puree– If you don’t have this at home, you can find it at your local H-E-B or Target! I personally prefer the puree because it has a better smoothie texture, but if you can’t find it, there are powders available too!
Frozen blueberries and strawberries – You can use any fruit, but my personal favorites are blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries! Tip: frozen fruits make for better bowls!
Banana – Ideally frozen, bananas are naturally super sweet, creamy, and a great source of potassium!
Milk/Juice – You will a liquid to mix it all together, so you can either choose milk or your favorite fruit juice!
(Optional) Yogurt – A little yogurt will change the game, but it’s completely up to you if you want it in! If you choose yogurt, do not add a flavored yogurt because then you will lose the sweet açaí flavor! Be sure to substitute it with some extra milk or fruit juice if you decide to opt-out.
(Optional-Toppings:)
- Granola
- Seeds
- Nuts
- Fresh sliced fruit
Steps:
1. Freeze your fruit.
Slice your banana and transfer it to a small baking sheet or plate lined with parchment paper. Add the blueberries and strawberries to the same plate. Put tray/plate in the freezer and freeze the fruit completely. Note: If you use store-bought frozen fruit, you can skip this step
2. Blend.
Once frozen, add the milk and yogurt to a high-speed blender. Add the frozen blueberries, strawberries, banana, and broken up açaí. Blend on low and make sure that all the ingredients are being thoroughly mixed. Continue to blend until smooth, only adding additional liquid when needed.
3. Assemble.
Pour the smoothie into a bowl and add all your favorite toppings. Don’t forget to snap a pic of your masterpiece and tag us @peachbum before it melts!
